I Just Can't Fight That Feeling Anymore
Hello!
Today, I am opening up.
What is healthy living without honesty anyways, right? So, let's be real.
With school, pursuing a career, a boyfriend, and attempting to maintain a somewhat of a normal social life, I find that at least once a week I spend the day running around the house like a chicken with my head cut off. I move from one meaningless task to another attempting to gain some control over my life. I think, "If I can create a mundane to-do list and check all the items off, I can say this was a successful day."
In reality, this is not a healthy or sane way to gain control over the more important tasks that really need to be done.
So, what is the sane way to decompress and reconnect?
1. Go to your happy place. Your big fluffy bed, the beach, or just plop down right where you are.
2. Stop, take a breath, drink some water, and try to clear your mind.
3. What do you need to do right now to have a clear mind? Now, do it.
3. Then do something you love. Surf, read, pray, work-out, bake something, take a walk.
I know that when I get really busy I find it hard to just stop and recenter myself. I remember seeing a magnet on a friend of mines fridge that said, "There is ample time and space to do everything I need to do." Sometimes what you really need to do is just simply, stop. Men need to do this too, but speaking to all the women out there: we are super humans, we are fighters, we are multi-taskers, and we want conquer the world and look fabulous doing it. We need to be reminded constantly that the world will still be there for the taking in an hour or so.
